Voter Contact 101: ID → Persuasion → GOTV
A simple path from building your universe to mobilizing supporters, with printable scripts and cut-list guidance.
Overview
Great field runs on clarity and logging. Your pipeline is: Universe → ID → Persuasion → Mobilization.
1) Build Your Universe
- Pull the voter file for your district; filter by eligibility and past turnout.
- Segment by precinct and likely support.
2) ID (Identification)
- Use a 3-question script: Support? Top issue? Contact info?
- Log responses within 24 hours.
3) Persuasion
- Target undecided/lean-opponents; test 2–3 messages tied to issues.
- Rotate messengers: candidate, veteran, parent, small-business owner.
4) Mobilization (GOTV)
- Convert supporters into commitments; confirm voting plan, deadline, and location.
- Ballot-chase for mail voters; confirm ballot returned.
Scripts
Keep to 45–60 seconds, one ask per contact. Include opt-out language for SMS.
Reporting
